(July 2002) French TV "Pop Star" Producer / keyboardist / arranger Philippe Saisse, who recently completed his entire new album at Avatar, was recording with resident engineer Roy Hendrickson for France's TV hit "Pop Star." The winners of the American Idol-like series got to record with the likes of Nile Rodgers, Will Lee, and Bashiri Johnson. The entire session was filmed for a behind-the-scenes television release. Hot on the heels of Tel Arc's Monty Alexander & Ray Brown recordings, Village Recorders and producer Yasuhachi Itoh setup camp in Studio C with engineer extraordinaire David Baker and a DSD system to record projects by Joe Chambers, Clark Terry, Max Roach, Grady Tate and Eddie Henderson. All tracks were recorded in the DSD format as well as 2" analog with Dolby SR and live to 1/2" analog with SR.Also, hearing of our SACD capability, engineer/producer Jeff Mee stopped in with opera sensation DIMITRI HVOROSTOVSKI for overdubs on our Sonoma multitrack DSD recorder.Studio C is SACD land!
